Brindlefeather smiled back and nudged him on the shoulder. "Come on, we have hungry clanmates that need to be fed!" she meowed, getting to her paws. She began walking towardthe nearby bush. The scent of vole was heavy in the air. She swiftly fell into a hunter's crouch and slithered forward skillfully. Once she was a fox-length away from her target, she bunched up her muscles and sprang for the prey. She quickly established the killing blow and buried her prey.

Starlingsong nodded and followed Brindlefeather. She made a good kill on the vole. "Good job, Brindlefeather." He smiled and also went hunting. He caught a rabbit.

"Thanks!" she purred. "Nice rabbit! That should feed all the kits AND Snowfur." The she-cat sniffed the air hopefully, but was disapponted when all she could smell was dry soil. "Hmm. Doesn't smell like there's any more prey. What do you want to do now?"

She smiled at him, but then turned away. She felt an itching in her pelt. Why wasn't she happy? She wasn't even excited for what might happen between them. Instead, aching sadness ran through her pelt. Why? This should be the happiest time of her life...

Brindlefeather opened her mouth, but no words came out. "I-I should be happy right now, but I feel horribly sad. I-I don't know. Something's wrong. I shouldn't feel this way. Feeling as though cat's very existence will crumble." she meowed.
