Leopardfrost smiled back. " Why don't we hunt or something?" the tom suggested mildly.

Maplebreeze nodded, bounding forward a few steps before looking over her shoulder. "Bet you I catch something first!" She called back. With that note, she pelted into the trees and sprung up onto a low branch. The she-cat had seen birds hunt from trees, and it seemed both odd yet amazing all at once.

Leopardfros narrowed his eyes playfully. "Yeah, right! Watch me catch more faster." He got a running start and leapt into another tree and outstreched his claws, crashing right into a robin. He quickly finished it off and hid it under the brush.

Maplebreeze gave him a bewildered look. "I claim that as cheating!" She laughed. Soon enough, she had launched from the tree branch she was on, landing squarly on the back of a young rabbit. Finishing it off quickly, she copied Leopardfrost and covered it.

Leopardfrost rolled his eyes. "If thats cheating, your obviously really good at it. I still cought prey first. You can't beat your old mentor!"

Maplebreeze puffed out her chest. "I will some day!" She mewed boldly. She was off again, paw steps falling silently as her jaws were parted slightly. The warrior didnt scent anything for the moment, so she stopped and groomed her chest for a moment.

Leopardfrost watched the she-cat dart off, admiration for her burned through his fur. SHe was still the young, silly apprentice he had trained for moons. The cat he trusted with his llife. The cat... he knew he could count on. He finally decided to get to paws and followed the faintly stale scent of water vole. He spotted it nibbling on a seed amongst a clump of reeds by the edge of the gorge. He fell into aa comfortable position and pinpointed it's position. He took a daring leap and skidded to a hault as the vole ran to the right. He tried to turn himself, but he didn't have any traction among the reeds. He felt his paws slipping. With a startled yelp, he clawed for dear life as he found himself dangling off the edge of the gorge. No, not again! he thought desperatly. "H-help!" he shouted.

Maplebreeze spun, birds shrieking the alarm as she kicked up dirt. Leopardfrost's shout hung in the air before finally fading. Claws dug into the ground as the she-cat crashed through the forest, all attempts on being silent forgotten. When she broke out of the tree line, she skidded to a halt. The warrior could just make out the tom's paws as they dug into the gorge edge. Blood roaring in the ears of the tortiseshell, she moved out and looked over the ledge, into the face of her former mentor. Praise StarClan she knew how to hold her grip along the edge here. "Hang on." She said, flattening herself as her teeth met his scruff. Once the grip was secure, she started to throw her weight backwards as slowly but surely, Maple pulled Leopard up.

Leopardfrost grunted with effort as he slowly clawed his way up. with Maplebreeze's help. Soon, he found himself laying on his side, heart beating a mile a minute. His limbs were sore and felt over worked. His claws were horribly tender and felt lke they would fall out. The tom managed to prop himself up on his shoulder. "Thank you!" he meowed tp Maple.

Maplebreeze laid down near the tom, breathing heavy with the effort. He was heavier then she had expected at first. The she-cat only dipped her head when Leopardfrost thanked her. A sudden purr started to vibrate in the tortiseshell's chest, one of the loudest she had ever made. Her former mentor was safe and well. "If you ever do that again, I will personally finish the job the gorge didnt." Maple muttered through the purr.

Leopardfrost protested lightly. "Aww, no! You would never do that! You would miss me too much." he purred. He felt so relaxed, so calm and safe when he was with Maplebreeze. He didn't feel lonely anymore. What was once a hole in his heart was now a replacement,no, better. It wasn't a replacement, it was what was ment to be.

Maple snorted, Leopard had a point. Getting to her paws, she padded closer to her former mentor and made it so their eyes met. The she-cats expression said it all, if the tom ever came that close to death again, Maplebreeze herself would keep him in camp for the rest of his life. Whether he would like it or not. She thought with a mental nod. Breaking the eye contact, the warrior dropped down next to Leopardfrost this time, enjoying the peace as well as the sun and gentle breeze on the air.

Leopardfrost streched his front legs as far as they could go, feeling as though he could reach forever. The beating sun dried his pelt quickly and he felt more refreshed rather than tired. " It's hard to stay on a negative note on a day like this. Everyday should be like this!" he purred.

Maple laughed. "But wheres the fun in that? You've got to have some sort of adventure in your life!" She mewed. As if the word adventure woke something, the she-cat jumped to her paws. Actually, adventure sounded really fun right now. Casting a sly glance at Leopardfrost, she pelted back to the gorge edge and looked from left to right, scanning for the ledge. Finding what she wanted, the warrior pelted along the edge before coming close to what she was aiming for. Once in range, she jumped over the edge, and landed on the ledge that was only a tail's lengh below the gorge edge. I enjoy this. She snickered inside her head.

Leopardfrost sat up, watching the she-cat leaping over the edge of the gorge. "What the...?" the tom broke off, getting to his paws and scrambling over to where Maplebreeze had disappeared. He saw another little edge. He cautiously put one step in front of the other, following the cat. He finally caught up to her. "Dont.Do.That.Again."
