Greenlily started, surprised at being discovered. However she quickly shook it off and came out to stand with Wolfstar. "Of course. The Clan could always use some more fresh-kill. Where shall we go?"

"Hmmm. It doesn't matter. Anywhere in the forest, so long as we catch enough prey for the clan." he purred, feeling better, but then he pricked his ears as the sound of tiny paws scrabbling on wood occured.

Greenlily dropped into a hunter's crouch, listening to the scrabbling of paws on the tree-trunk just Wolfstar was. She slowly moved forward and drew the air in over her scent-glands. It was a squirrell. She looked back at wolfstar and flicked her tail to indicate that if he wanted the catch that he should proceed.

Wolfstar slunk past Greenlily, approaching the tree from the other side. Pinpointing the preys position, he took a huge leap above the squirrel, blocking it's upwards escape. When it tried to flee, it ended up under Greenlily's claws. "That should be enough to feed the apprentices," he purred in satisfaction.

Greenlily purred in agreement and picked up the furry bundle in her jaws, carrying it over to the roots of a tree and covering it loosely so that they'd be able to fetch it later. She then began scenting the air for more prey. "I think we should head closer to the river. It's almost sunhigh, and that's when a lot of the prey like getting a quick drink. What do you think?"

"Great idea." he purred. They made their way through the forest and stopped as a thimping sound began. A robin was on top of a shrub pecking for bugs. He motioned Greenlily on with his tail.

Greenlily dipped her head and fell easily into the appropriatew hunting crouch. Birds were one of her favourite things to hunt. She moved soundlessly across the ground, her weight on her haunches. When she was within range, she flattened herself to the ground to get into a good position and then sprang forward. The robin tried to take off with a series of startled chrips, but Greenlily's claws caught it without mercy and she finished it quickly.

Wolfstar smiled. "Good job." he meowed. But he was very distracted with something on his mind he had whenever he saw Greenlily. "Greenlily, I-I have something to tell you..." he trailed off and flattened his ears. How could he tell her? What would she say?

Greenlily sensed Wolfstar's unease and, setting the robin aside, came over to sit by him. "What is it, Wolfstar?" she asked, her green eyes full of concern, "Is something wrong?"

Wolfstar looked deep into the she-cats eyes. "Greenlily, I don't love you very much. I like you as a clan mates and I love our kits, but just not you. I mean this in the nicest way I possibly can." he meowed deeply.

Greenlily blinked at Wolfstar for a moment, not comprehending. "You... don't love me?" she meowed. It wasn't really a question, it was more just trying the words on for size. She expected the words to cause her pain, to make her feel like curling up in a ball and crying pitifully like a tiny kit, but instead she was surprised by the feeling of relief that swelled in her chest. She tried to figure it out, and realized that in all honesty she hadn't felt any love towards Wolfstar since their kits had been born. She liked him, of course--she considered him one of her closest friends--and of course she respected him, as he was her Clan leader. But love? No, she couldn't say that she'd truly loved him for quite some time now. "I understand,Wolfstar," she meowed calmly, standing back up and padding over to the robin she'd caught. "There's no hard feelings. I'll take this robin and the squirrel back to camp now, so I guess I'll see you whenever you decide to return." With that she grabbed the robin in her jaws, paused by Wolfstar to dip her head respectfully, and then continued on into the undergrowth.
