When the monsters have Gone

Wolfstar flattened his ears against his head as Doveheart snapped out. He could understand how frustrating it must be for other cats to deal with them. "Sorry Doveheart. I really try to be appropriate and hold myself together and be the best father I can be, but sometimes it's just so hard and frustrating. I don't try to go and pick fights." he meowed sincerely.

Sprucepaw spat angrily at Doveheart's words, did she think he cared? It was all Wolfstar's fault! If the clan turned their back on them, he would know who to blame. The young tom rolled his eyes at his father as he tried to sound like the good guy. '' You can just go ahead and say it Wolfstar, everyone knows it already! You think I'm frustrating! You think I'm a walking disaster! And you regret having me, I bet you wish I could have gotten hit by that monster instead of Pinekit! '' he meowed viciously.

Doveheart was placed in stunned silence. Her eyes dragged themselves away from Sprucepaw to Wolfstar. She watched him closely, waiting for some responce to those words. It was clear to anyone that SunClan's leader was still griving Pinekit. Then it occured to her, could fighting like this be-in a really odd sort of way-Sprucepaw's way of dealing with that?
How did this all start anyways? She thought, wishing StarClan would somehow set things right between them.

Wolfstar's pelt fluffed out and he looked nearly three times his origional size. He trembled with fury. "How could you ever say that?!?" he screamed at the apprentice. All the emotions he had kept in himself, all the anger, frustration, guilt, and sorrow, was now being unleashed. The tom's raging gaze bore down on the apprentice. The glint in his eyes was terrifying. "You think It's easy to get up everyday and feel that emptyness and guilt? It's NOT! You think I don't understand you?? You don't understand me at all!!!"

Sprucepaw kept his paws planted where they were but crouched down toward the ground as Wolfstar fluffed out his pelt, looking huge. His eyes were wide with shock, and maybe even a little fear. He had to admit that Sprucepaw intentioanly tried to piss Wolfstar off, but only a tiny bit. He didn't expect the white and gray tom to react like this. You don't scare me- The tom cut off in his head when Wolfstar's voice boomed in his ears like lightning. He closed his eyes, not willing to look into his father's horribly angry ones. He was hoping Doveheart would step in and do something...

Doveheart knocked Wolfstar's side with her own. It wasnt enough to make him fall, but enough to stumble. Her eyes were hard as she stared at the tom.
"Blowing up on your so-" She stopped midsentence.
Ice blue orbs suddenly glazed over, and the medicine cat flattened herself to the ground as she stared at the Thunderpath. She stayed like that for what seemed like a moon and a half before she opened and closed her jaw. It looked more like she was failing at breathing air for the moment, followed by a tremendous gasp as air allowed itself back into the she-cats lungs. She didnt say anything to either cat, eyes still staring blankly at the reeking road.

Wolfstar shook himself after Doevheart attempted to knock him over. She began to yell at him, but she stopped in mid-sentence. She had a very out-there look, like she was there, but yet she was in a different world. After a few moments, she blinked and stared blankly at the thunderpath. Anger forgotten, Wolfstar meowed worriedly, "Doveheart, are yoou OK?"

As Doveheart came to his aid, Sprucepaw quickly stood up straight again and acted as if he hadn't been scared despite the fact that his heart was beating like a humming bird's wings. The medicine cat began yelling at her leader when she suddenly stopped, her icey eyes wide and unseeing. A monster could have driven by right now and the apprentice would bet that the she-cat wouldn't even flinch. '' D- Doveheart? '' he meowed timidly then jumped a little as she suddenly gasped, still staring at nothing even though her eyes were more focused. '' Are you ok? '' he asked her.

Doveheart still wasnt looking at either cats. Her breath was coming in ragged gasps, though they were starting to slow down to normal. Claws worked the ground nervously as her tail lashed from side to side. Finally breaking from the hold of whatever had her, she backed up until both toms were in her sight.
"Fire, on the Thunderpath. It followed the path like monsters do. Twolegs were everywhere, then something closed around my neck. Couldnt breath, wire, smoke..." She trailed off, mind heavily clouded by the vision.

Wolfstar looked at the medicine cat with a worried expression. He rested his tail on her shoulder to try to calm her down. "It'll be alright Doveheart. Whatever that was supposed to mean, we'll pull through it." he meowed, trying to convince himself.

Sprucepaw stared at the medicine cat in shock. What had just happened? '' Doveheart...? Did you just see the future? Or get a message from StarClan or something? '' the young tom asked in awe. If it was a message from StarClan, it didn't seem like a good one... more like a warning. Two-legs and fire? That was not a good combanation.

Doveheart shook her head to clear it. She nodded to Sprucepaw's questions.
"Yes, though what its about will take a while to understand." She mewed.
The medicine cat looked old at that moment in time, old and worn out. Walking back to where Wolfstar first found her, she curled up inbetween tree roots again. Being off her paws brought back some youth to her features.
"No cat has ever had anything like this before," The she-cat mumbled to the toms, then described in detail.
There had been a long monster-longer then she had ever seen-laying dead on the side of the Thunderpath, oozing black blood. What seemed like seconds later, more twolegs then could be counted were all over as the road burned red with fire. Luck was on the Clan cat's side, for the fire didnt seem to leave the Thunderpath thanks to dirt lining the edges. Panic was in the air though, when Doveheart tried to move, she found that something cold and thin was wrapped around her neck, keeping the air from her lungs.
