[Spruceburn]

Sprucepaw walked up to the gorge cautiously looking over his shoulder. All the other cats always talked about the gorge so he wanted to see it for himself. It's probably not that dangerous, I don't see why all the older cats always fret about it. He thought airily to himself as he neared the gorge. Now the young tabby was right by the edge, he took a deep breath and looked over the edge. '' Wow.... '' he murmured, it was so deep. He shoved a fairly large pebble over the edge and pricked his ears for the sound of it hitting the water below.

The splashing sound never came. Instead, there was a frusterated yowl of pain down below.
"Where in StarClan's name did that come from?!" Rosepaw shouted, looking up to see who had thrown the rock over the cliff. The stone had hit her on her haunches, giving a jolt of pain as it bounced off. As she focused on a feline shape at the top, she was able to make out the mischevious apprentice, Sprucepaw.

'' Mrrrow! '' Sprucepaw let out a yowl of surprise when a voice met his ears instead of a splash. With his eyes narrowed, the young tom searched for the cat he had hit with the stone. After a few moments of searching he made out Rosepaw, '' Sorry! I wanted to see how long it would take for it to fall! '' he called down to her.

"Try looking harder ebfore throwing stuff next time!" she called back, half teasingly. Rosepaw had been in an acceptionally good mood as of late, and found it hard to stay mad at anyone. The apprentice grabbed the yarrow she had been collecting down there, and walked a little ways to where the cliff sloped, and it was easy enough to climb. Although clumsily, Rosepaw made her way up, then walked over to Sprucepaw, laying down the herbs.
"So what are you doing here anyways?" she asked the younger tom. She herself often came here to think, and just be, but others didn't come as often.

'' Well I didn't think cats would be down there. '' Sprucepaw sniffed stubbornly despite Rosepaw's teasing tone. He padded over to the slope and met the she-cat at the top. '' So what are you doing here anyways? '' she asked him. Honestly, Sprucepaw didn't have an answer except for curiosity, which sounded lame. '' Flameclaw sent me to hunt here all by myself! '' he meowed his little white lie proudly.

She looked at him skeptically, but didn't say anything. Medicine cats always seemed to have a little sixth sense for lying, although they didn't point it out. If cats wanted to tell the truth, they would.
"Good job. Well, since you're here want to help me carry some herbs back to camp?" she asked, knowing that she should pick up some chervil too. Some extra paws might help greatly.

"Hi you two. What are you doing out here, without a warrior with you?"
Snowfur asked.

[Goldenblaze]

"Oh, I'm here," Goldenblaze padded out into the open. Honestly, he had been hunting, and scented Rosepaw out here, so he dropped his prey off at camp, and decided to see if she wanted company. Snowfur was already there when he arrived though. He would hate for his friends to get into trouble, so he decided to pretend to be their escorts.

"I had...left for a bit, but I thought they'd be fine for a few moments alone," he nodded to Snowfur.

"I doubt either of us need an escort!" Rosepaw mewed, slightly offended. Being able to fend for herself was a tender subject, and the she-cat frowned. "The only threat out here is rocks falling on you." she said, knowing Sprucepaw would get the slight joke, although she wasn't smiling. The apprentice dispised when others questioned her ability to cope. She could manage just fine if given the chance.

[Goldenblaze]

Goldenblaze flinched.

"No one doubts that you can take care of yourself or anything...just...you're both apprentices, so you need an escort outside of camp is all....really..."

"But if you remember correctly we're the same age." she snapped suddenly. Rosepaw didn't want their pity. Or anything else for that matter! Goldenblaze may be her best friend, but he didn't need to protect her as if she was a kit.
"Just because I'm not training to be a magnificent warrior like everyone doesn't mean I need to be babysat!" She almost spat, her good mood ruined.
'Or has being a warrior and your crush on Gladepaw made you forget?!' She didn't say it, but almost. Without waiting for a response, the medicine cat apprentice walked around the others, wishing she could actually run.

[Goldenblaze]

"R-Rosepaw! Wait!" Goldenblaze hurried after her.

"Why are you so angry? I just wanted to help..." he flattened his ears, obviously upset. "I'm sorry I worry about you so much...

"Well I'm just gonna go now..."
Snowfur said awkwardly as she left.

She wished she could run. She wished she could just run and ignore the world. She wished that she had never fallen, or better yet, never been born. So many things would be different without her.
But she couldn't. Rosepaw knew that.
"I know I'm crippled and weaker now." she hissed in frustration. "But I don't need to be reminded!" her anger started to fade slightly. It was hard for her to stay mad to long with her best friend around. "I don't like to be protected like a kit! It's not just the you, but the entire clan acts like I may drop dead any minute because of my limp!"
The she-cat stopped walking, but didn't look at Goldenblaze.
"Everything is so complicated." she whispered. "It just isn't right! It's not fair! Why'd I have to fall?! Why do I have to be here?!"
Why do I have to live and deal with the heartbreak I feel everyday?'

Goldenblaze pressed his head against Rosepaw to calm him down.

"Sometimes....life just isn't fair," he said quietly, "You and I both know that..."
