I was sunhigh, and most of the Clan were just sitting in camp enjoying the sun warming their belly fur. Maplepaw, however, was out and roaming. The tortiseshell cat moved silently through the woods, aiming for the dark caves. Most said that it was scary, but she had been in there before and thought different. The she-cat came upon the caves soon enough, and paused outside them. Deciding to rest for a bit and let the sun warm her own fur, the yellow-green eyed cat stared into the cave's dark depths. Her paws tingled as she imagined how cool the stone must be, even though it was the hottest part of the day.

"Hello" came a tom's voice within the cave. He stepped forward, revealing his golden dappled pelt. It was Leopardfrost, Maplepaw's mentor. "Come with me inside the cave. I have many a thing to show you."

Maplepaw's head shot up at the sound of her mentor's voice. Eyes danced with excitement and curiosity as she rose to her paws. Coming to stand infront of Leopardfrost, she looked up at him with her head tilted to one side and her white tail tip twitching. "What are we doing?" She asked. The she-cat wondered briefly what the tom had been doing in the cave, for she knew that he wasnt a fan of that sort of thing.

Leopardfrost rested his tail on the bouncy apprentice's head. "All in good time. Calm down and you'll find out. If you don't clam down, well..." the tom gazed into the cave before finishing his sentence. "You'll wake the bats."

Maplepaw froze in midbounce. She had been inside the cave before, but never seen any bats. Had Leopardfrost lost his mind? "I've never seen any bats." She mewed, peering into the black void. The young she-cat opened her jaws and sucked in a gulp of air. Coming faintly from the air inside the cave was in fact a trace of bats. Odd that the apprentice never seemed to catch the scent until now.

Leopard took slow steps forward. "Look up." he whispered in her ear. "That's probably why you haven't scented them before. They sleep on the roof of the cave." He flicked his tail over her mouth to make sure she stayed quiet.

Maplepaw followed Leopardfrost, paws falling silent on the cave floor. She looked up at the ceiling at the advise, and felt her jaw drop in awe. "Th-" She began, but was cut off by a mouthful of her mentor's tail. Casting the tom an appologetic glance, the young she-cat left his side and trotted forward, eyes glued above her. If the tortiseshell strained her ears, she could catch the sound of littel squeaks coming from the bats. This was better then she had ever thought of!

Leopardfrost slowly lead the she-cat through the cave. They padded in deeper and deeper into the cave. He came to a dead end and took a left, leading to a much more narrow tunnel. "Here," he whispered, pointing with is tail at the dark ground. "Here is something I believe to be made by Starclan." He gently wiped away gunk with his paw and a small, sparkling stream appeared and the sound of trickling grew louder. He then pulled a small rock out of the wall and a small waterfall appeared. In fact, anouther cave appeared. A shaft in the roof gave room for the sun or moon to let light sparkle on the water. "What do you think?"

Maplepaw couldnt speak, she was at a loss for words. Her eyes however, were wide with wonder and awe. This had to be one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen. "How many know of it?" She asked curiously. Her head was craned backwards again, looking at the opening for light high above her head. The she-cat could understand how Leopardfrost said this place was made by StarClan.

The tom pondered this. "I think I am the only one, besides Batflight. I showed her as soon as I found it. It's quite a magical thing for only those who are deserving to bask in it's shimmering light." he meowed, his eyes glittering.

Maplepaw's eyes flashed, to quick to for the emotion to be picked up. It came with a clouded thought at what Leopardfrost said, for those who were deserving enough. Am i deserving enough? She thought. Shoving the thought away, the she-cat trotted over to the water's edge bent down. She stared at the liquid, and her reflection in it, for some time before lapping some of it up. Acting more like a kit then an apprentice, the tortiseshell batted a paw at the water, sending a shower of droplets everywhere.

Leopardfrost purred in amusment. "Yes, it certainly draws out the curiosity. I still have many questions about this place. I've been thinking about telling Doveheart, but I'm not sure I want to. I sort of want this to saty a secret. Although, telling Doveheart woujld men she could consult Starclan about it, but still. I don't need them."

Maplepaw seemed to understand the tom's words as she batted another paw at the water. She could be amused by the simplest of things for the longest of time. The apprentice drenched her entire tail and spund around, flinging water onto everything around her, including Leopardfrost. Ah how she loved to act like a warrior for one moment, then a newborn kit the next. What else is one to do when you have a seeming limitless amount of energy? "How long have you known it was here?" The she-cat asked next.

Leopardfrost shrugged his shoulders. "I found it the day after I was made a warrior. My first day of duties." The tom looked at the ceiling, lost in memory. (K, he's like telling her this, but it's in 3rd person) The young tom exited the camp, feeling loose and vibrant. Batflight had sent him out on patrol and said he did excellent. Leopardfrost puffed out his chest. He would be the greatest warrior ever. As he made his way to the camp entrance, he bumbed into the young she-cat, Ashcloud. "Oops, sorry!" he meowed. The she-cat giggled and smiled at him. "That's fine." she purred luxuriously. He quickly got out of the situation. Since he was so happy with Batflight, he decided he would buck up the courage to enter on of her favorite places. When he entered the cave, he coudn't see or hear anything but the sound of dripping water. He catiously slunk through the tunnel until he hit the wall. "Oof!" he huffed. Then, a million screechs erupted and the roof of the cave seemed to come alive. he realized he had woken the bats. He scrambled into the entrance to another tunnel and cursed as he tripped over a rock. The rock moved. Curiosity sparked within the young cat and he gave the rock a sturdy nudge. It flipped out. The sound of water became louder. He began to dig, and dug harder. Finally, the rest of the gunk washed away and there was a small glowing stream. Welcome.......

Maplepaw listened with extreame curiosity and will to learn the as the story unfolded. She bit back a mrow of laughter at the mention of Ashcloud. However, she couldnt keep the laughter in when Leopardfrost spoke of running into a wall. Very smooth. She mocked in her mind. Eventually the tale came to its end, and the apprentice blinked once or twice. "So you found this place a hundred moons ago?" The young she-cat teased to the older tom.
