Unpleasant Reminders

[Birdsong]

"Come on, mom!" Birdpaw urged, nudging Roseleaf's shoulder as she led her into the medicine cat's clearing. "You need to have Doveheart look at that for you." Lately, Roseleaf's old injury had been acting up. She didn't want to admit it, but Birdpaw could tell. After a while, she'd finally managed to coax Roseleaf into at least letting Doveheart see the wound. Birdpaw knew how much her mother disliked being reminded off her injury, or of Birdpaw's brother, but Birdpaw cared about her mother and she didn't want her to be in pain.

[Roseleaf]

Roseleaf sighed. "Birdpaw, how many times do I have to tell you? I'm fine!" Doveheart padded out of her den to meet the two she-cats.

"Roseleaf, lets see that wound of yours." She stood still while Doveheart sniffed along the scratch.

Doveheart sniffed the old wound carefully. She gently prodded it with a paw before backing up a pace and sitting down. Well trained eyes scanned both cats before her before she spoke.
"When did it start to hurt agian Roseleaf?" She asked first.
This was where her position was hard. If cats didnt come to her when wounds started hurting, then it could be possible that they ended up with some sort of life long problem.

[Roseleaf]

Roseleaf glanced at Birdsong, who was about to reply.

"Since I went hunting yesterday with Greenlilly. I was going to come, but I just decided to rest first."

[Birdsong]

Birdsong dipped her head in acknowledgment to her mother's words, signifying that they were true, and then waited calmly for Doveheart's diagnosis.

[doveheart]

Doveheart walked back into the den, and came back out with a poppy seed.
"Eat that then go and rest again." She mewed.
The medicine cat was giving the old wound a displeasing look. She was starting to think that it might not ever heal properly if it acted up like this every now and then.
"How long have you had that wound?" She asked Roseleaf next.

[Roseleaf]

"I got it shortly before joining the clan. Its the one I got from that fox..." Roseleaf tried not to let her voice crack as she remembered her other kit who had been killed by that same fox.

[Birdsong]

Birdsong's head fell slightly. She may have only been a kit at the time, but she'd loved her brother, and though she hadn't understood that he was dead at first, her mother's obvious heartbreak had told the young she-cat more than words ever would. Birdsong realized impetuously that it was something she and Sprucepaw shared; they'd both lost a brother. Shaking her head, Birdsong looked back up at Doveheart to listen to the medicine cat's response to Roseleaf's statement.

Doveheart was shaking her head from side to side slowly. She seemed to be deep in thought for a moment before looking at Roseleaf clearly.
"I have a feeling that this wound may never heal properly, it could give you problems now and then." She mewed, before adding, "Or it may just need more time and i could be wrong."
She sniffed the wound again, as if to double check how it was coming along.

"Okay, I suppose. Can I go rest?" Roseleaf meowed.
