Doveheart herded the two into the medicine cat's den. She wore a determined look as she barred the entrance with her body. It had been some time after the she-cat wanted answers, and had still gotten none. So now she was going to get rather unpleasent unless someone said something. "Speak. Now." She mewed harshly, though wearyness showed in her eyes. The medicine cat just wanted answers, and the fact that these two kept acting as though nothing was going on hurt her. It hurt her more knowing that one of the cats was Roseflight. Icey blue eyes hardened into shards of ice themselves as she waited for a response.

Roseflight felt bad for not telling Doveheart. But how was she supposed to?! "Hello Doveheart. I've been thinking about breaking the code and running off with Goldenblaze because we've figured out we're actually more then just friends. Cya around!" No. That would not work. At all. But now there wasn't much choice. Doveheart had finally cornered them, and the determined lok on the older she-cat's face told her that there was no oter way out of this. So instead of getting sentamental, Roseflight got angry. "Am I not allowed to hang out with my friend suddenly without being accused?!" she hissed defensivley. The medicine cat apprentice wished that Goldenblaze wasn't in the den though. . . There was no need for him to see or hear this arguement, although he was part of it. Kinda. . . "Do you question my loyalty now? You've been watching me as if a kit! I don't need to be baby-sat!"

Goldenblaze winced as Roseflight snapped at her mentor. The atmosphere in the medicine cats' den was tense and awkward. The warrior wanted to tell Doveheart the truth so badly, but he couldn't. He was afraid. He was afraid for Roseflight, and the fact that she'd be in trouble.
He didn't want to say anything that would upset the two she-cats, so he looked down at his paws, trying not to be thrown into the starting fray.

To Doveheart's suprise, she laughed. A dry, humorless laugh at the calico's anger. "Acutally, yes you do need to be watched. You know you lie, and so do I." She mewed, the dry humor dripping in her voice still. Her head turned to look at Goldenblaze staring at his paws. His feelings about everything were easy to smell as they rolled off his body in waves. Turning her gaze back to Roseflight, they were now blank. Expressionless eyes with a now expressionless tone, she was good at that. "Are you happy Roseflight, are you happy Goldenblaze. I-nor Wolfstar-can keep you here if it is not your wish. Go with what your hearts tell you." She mewed. The medicine cat had refrained from saying the "L" word. She would break if she did, but the last words she spoke had held some emotion, not of anger, but of vauge understanding. As said before, she wanted to hear the truth from them, insted of her dragging it into the open. "I will not say anything to Wolfstar." She whispered, more to herself then the younger two.

Roseflight now hung her head as her mentor spoke. They were defeated, found out. . . And yet Doveheart laughed. It was dry, but a laugh, nonetheless. The older she-cat seemed understanding, at least slightly. How did she know? "But we aren't sure what our heart say to do. . ." she finally whispered. "This clan took us in as kits when we had no home. We were both orphans, and brought up as if we were part of the clan. I-I didn't choose this path. . . But we owe it to our clan to serve it. But we also owe it to our hearts to follow them. . . And they themselves seem torn between the decision." Roseflight tried to explain.

Goldenblaze's heart skipped a beat....did Doveheart....laugh? Dry as it was, was she....happy for them in anyway? He'd imagined she's be angry, or upset or something that wasn't completely understanding. He couldn't look up at the two other cats, and he couldn't seem to make his voice work, but, he had to try.
"Being....in SunClan....was the best thing StarClan has ever done for us. The Clan is our family as well as our friends. It's our home. And.....I don't....I want Roseflight to be happy...to be a medicine cat, being useful....she's good at that. And, I don't want to risk her losing something she's good at for me. We never intended on breaking the Warrior Code...and I...I don't think I could ever leave...We just don't know what to do!"

Doveheart bowed her head, eyes closed. She stayed like the for some time before raising her head again. Opening her eyes again, she looked at them both, icey orbs seemingly full of starlight. A purr began to rumble in the she-cat's throat as she raised herself to her paws. The medicine cat licked Roseflight's head before gently nudging Goldenblaze to get him to look up and not at his paws. "You are both young and foolish," She started, voice calm and caring now. "I can only imagine what it's like to love. Yet you know you must stop, and before something happens to you both. It goes against warrior code for a medicine cat to love, as you both knew that from the day you were born. Life was unknown to you both before entering SunClan, yet none challenges your loyalty." She paused here, a dark glint reflecting in her blue orbs. "Dont give them reason to question it either." Doveheart was done, she couldnt think of any more words to say to the pair. The tonkinese sighed mentally though, wondering why StarClan let it happen in the first place.

Roseflight gently licked his cheek, lovingly, she admitted. Goldenblaze was afraid to let her risk her own duties just as she was afraid to let him risk his. But Doveheart was right. They had never been questioned in their loyalty, so why give reason? But it was so hard, to give up the heart's desires. "Thank you for understanding Doveheart." she murmured gratefully to her mentor, bowing her head slightly. Not in shame though. Yes, she was slightly embarrassed for being caught, but if her heart truly loved someone or thing, she would never be shamefully of that. Just as now. But that didn't make it right. And she knew that well.

Goldenblaze bowed his head also. He was relieved the medicine cat promised not to tell Wolfstar, but felt a stab of pain. Of course he was loyal to the clan........so that meant putting the clan before his own selfish wants. He could do it...maybe.
"Thank you, Doveheart. I think.....I understand what I must do..." he mewed quietly. He had to make sure Roseflight was safe and happy, and that meant staying two loyal clan cats...he could never let her risk position of medicine cat for him, just as she'd never let him risk being a warrior for her. They both wanted it so bad, but couldn't let each other risk everything.
That's true love...

Doveheart returned the bow. She stepped aside, allowing them to leave the den if they chose to do so. Her eyes were carefully guarded all over again as she looked at the pair. Tail tip twitched for a moment as she took in the love between them. "You never know, in the end it may work out after all." She mewed quietly. Padding around them, the medicine cat went to work on her herb supply, sorting the ones that were starting to go bad with the ones that were still good.

Wolfstar entered the den, his eyes not showing of any emotions. "I heard everything. If you are really in love, Roseflight, you wouldn't have to leave. You could stop being a medicine cat, though. Either you would retire in the lders den, or be put out on special occasions as a warrior."

Roseflight's fur bristtled slightly with surprise when Wolfstar came in, admitting what he had heard. But she made it lie flat once it turned into aggitation. Being an elder would make her useless! And a special occasion warrior?! What would she do, sit around camp and only go out when allowed? The she-cat had to feel use-ful in some way. That's why she had never wanted to become a queen in any way growing up. Sitting in a stuffy nursery with mewling kits for moons on end? It seemed torturous. But what about now? When she has found love? Would she let herself be useless, just so she could let her love of Goldenblaze be known? Would she actually mother his kits for him? "No." She looked at Goldenblaze, her eyes lingering longingly. But it was not right. "I cannot just stand and be useless to my clan. Neither can Goldenblaze. We both feel the need to be useful, even if it means. . . This." The medicine cat looked at Wolfstar again. "We love eachother. But we also know it's true love because we will put ourselves aside for the other, so the other may go on a slightly normal life." 'I will let him be with any other she-cat he wants. I be happy just knowing he had loved me for some period of time. . . That will last me my lifetime.'

Goldenblaze looked down at his paws for a second before lifting his head to meet the others' gazes. As much as it hurt, Roseflight was right. No matter how much they loved each other....there was no way they could be together.....
"No matter what happens, we will always love each other. Our hearts are for each other to have. Even if we are not together... I am a Warrior of SunClan, and Roseflight is a Medicine Cat...that is how it must be..." he mewed.
My heart will always belong to you....
