Mos would think that after the falling incident that caused her cripple, that the medicine cat apprentice would be afraid of hieghts. But she was somehow still fond of them. Rosepaw stood on the edge of the cliff, so much that her twos curled ove the side. There was a strong gust of wind, blowing through her fur, and she loved the feeling. It was almost like flying. The feeling brought back sweet memories. Flying through the treetops with no injury to slow her, and her mentor running below as they raced to the training area. There was even the thought of her warrior name being Roseflight in honor of her love for this. The wind in her fur was magnificent, and being so high up made her feel like a bird. It was simply magnificent! So free of the world and its troubles! That was just a vague dream now. This was about as close as she could get. Even climbing trees was a hastle anymore. And with being put as the medicine cat apprentice, she felt like dead weight to the clan. She knew she had so much potential before the injury, but now she could barely walk a good distance. Tears pricked the back of her eyes, and not because of the strong wind. But Rosepaw bit them back, refusing to feel sorry for herself. No, she would heal now, even with her injury. She would make sure no one else ended up like her.

"Moping again are we?" Doveheart mewed, padding up to Rosepaw's side. Sitting down next to her apprentice, the she-cat curled her tail neatly around her paws. She knew why the calico was here, but said no words of encouragment or sympathy. The lost cat would have to find her own way out of her seemingly never ending dispair. As medicine cat apprentice, she knew that Rosepaw should be gathering herbs or something, but the cream and silver/grey cat normally let the young one shirk her duties.

Rosepaw looked away shamefully. Yet again, she was shirking her duties, leaving all the work to her mentor. It must have been worse than having no apprentice for Doveheart. But somehow, she couldn't help but visit this place once in awhile, just to feel free again, instead of grounded to the earth forever. "I'm sorry Doveheart" the apprentice apologized, hoping her mentor understood. Hadn't the medicine cat mentioned being trained as a warrior before this? "I'll go gather some herbs now. I just wanted to visit again. . ." It was impossibly hard to explain. So many questions would zoom through Rosepaw's mind every time she thought about her cripple. Maybe this one time, she would voice at least one. Doveheart. . . Do you think StarClan planned this for me?"

Doveheart looked at Rosepaw when she started to appologize. The emotion behind the ice blue eyes were that of a mother gazing at her kits. For that what her apprentice was to her, a non-related daughter. Hey, she could dream too! "There is nothing to appologize for Rosepaw." The she-cat mewed gently. The medicine cat gave a quiet laugh, licking the calico behind her ear. She flicked her tail up at the sky, even though Silverpelt didnt show she knew StarClan was still there. StarClan doesn't control the seasons, or weather. It could have been their choosing, or just a twisted fate." She whispered. Secretly though, Doveheart knew the truth. She was going to tell Rosepaw when she traveled with her to speak to StarClan for the first time. It hadnt been some accident, for the day Rosepaw fell, a rose petal had landed on Dove's head.

Rosepaw sighed ath the answer that didn't really answer anything. But the reasuring lick did make her feel better. Doveheart was one of the few that still treated her like a regular cat, not pitying her for her cripple, and not getting her hopes up of it eventually healing. She even remembered when she had gotten injured, Doveheart reasured he would live, and walk, but said not a word about it healing entirely. "Come on. Let's go get those herbs." Rosepaw smiled gently, before turning and started to walk back into the forest with her mentor. "We need more burdock root and chervil don't we?" she asked, smelling the air. There was a good supply of burdock a little closer to the river, and chervil was scattered a little aroud the territory.

Wolfstar's ears twitched in annoyance. The clan was completely dependent on him and he hardly ever had time to think. Frustration clawed at his belly. He had been deep in thought when the dawn patrol had barged into camp and announced that everything was clear. Now he had lost his train of thought and was trying to remember what was so important that he was thinking about. He arrived at the gorge just in time to see Rosepaw and her mentor. "Hello," he meowed, giving them a curt nod. But instead of speaking to them, he sat at the edge of the gorge, his tail kinked in frustration.

The apprentice turned, seeing the leader come up right as they were about to leave. She knew being leader was frusterating, but Wolfstar seemed to have taken it to the next extreme. It was obvious in his body language. "Wolfstar?" she asked, concerned. Maybe he could take some herbs to calm down and actually rest. Out of all cats, the leader shouldn't be this out of sorts. They could need him in a split second, and if he isn't well rested and ready, that could mean defeat.

Wolfstar didn't answer. His fur bristled in shock. He knew exactly what he was thinking. He was thinking about the day that Fernstar had taken him into the clan. The day he had been pushed off of the gorge and expected to die. That cat who had pushed him off the gorge wasn't new to him. It was his brother, Jet, also known as Jetstripe. The thought of that murderous cat made Wolfstar shiver. How could he share his blood?

Doveheart shook her head as Wolfstar padded past them. "He dwells on the past and old memories haunt him still." She mewed to Rosepaw. The she-cat very well knew that her leader could have heard what she said. She had still been an apprentice to Silverface, the tom who was medicine cat at the time. The cat had watched her mentor care for Wolf when the Clan found him. She sat back down, curling her tail around her paws again as she watched the backside of her leader. No herbs could really cure the tom, only time could do that, but herbs still helped.

Wolfshadow curled his tail around his paws. He watched the hungry waves of water crash around the cliff side, as though trying to reach him and devour him. "Doveheart, keep me updated on things that Starclan says. I have a bad feeling that something horrible is going to happen." the tom meowed quietly.

Rosepaw pricked her ears, catching what the tom said. Why did he think something horrible would happen? Although the clan has been a little wobbly lately, trying to gain its roots back, everything seemed fine enough. But thena again. . . Fate changes faster than the death of light. Anything could happen to change the tides of living, death, good and evil, night and day. But Rosepaw nodded curtly to the leader, although he was speaking to Doveheart probably, instead of both of them.

"Yes Wolfstar." Doveheart mewed in reply to his request. Her eyes flickered to the side, catching Rosepaw's movement. She watched her leader for a moment longer before heaving herself to her paws again. The she-cat gave her chest a couple licks before speaking. "Im going to collect herbs, if any cat needs me." She meowed over her shoulder. The cream and silver/grey medicine cat trecked on down the gorge, going farther away from the two other cats as she trotted to one of the best places to gather chervil root.

Greenlily had finally managed to get all three of her kits to sleep, and so she decided to go out for a walk to stretch her legs. She wouldn't be gone long, and so hopefully they wouldn't wake up to find her absent. She decided she would go and visit Wolfstar, but she found that he wasn't in his den. She picked up his scent heading towards the camp entrance and hesitated. She wanted to go to him, but what about her kits? They're asleep, she reminded herself, they should be okay by themselves for a little while yet. Greenlily followed Wolfstar's scent out of camp and towards The Gorge. She spied Wolfstar sitting near the edge, and Rosepaw sitting a litte ways off. Tentatively, Greenlily stepped forward and let out a soft mew of greeting to make her presence known.

Rosepaw nodded to the queen, giving a small smile before starting to walk awkwardly in the general direction that Doveheart had gone. She doubted the queen had wanted to talk to her, and it was probably a matter that was best discussed alone with the leader instead of having an extra set of ears listening. So the medicine cat apprentice hobbled her way into the forest, trying not to make to much noise despite her cripple. This is one of the reasons she couldn't hunt, because she would scare away the prey. But she was quiet enough. It's not like the herbs would run away.

Greenlily watched as Rosepaw left, then turned her worried green eyes on her mate. Wolfstar's posture was rigid, and he was clearly thinking about something. She padded over to him and sat down, twining their tails together. "What's bothering you, Wolfstar?" she mewed after a moment, pressing herself reassuringly against his flank, "What's wrong?"
