((OOC: I got this posting style idea from Tox, who has used it before. Just felt like randomly using it and I'm not tryin to copy XD)) "Some days I can't believe Others, I'm on my knees Trying to be heard"
Roseflight sat high in a tree, stairing down at the thunderpath nearby below as monsters roared as they passed. The stench of their fumes would cover her scent if anyone was looking for her, unless they knew her to well. For once, she didn't go to the gorge to be alone. It had become a sort of hot-spot for apprentices, being so 'death-defying' and such. So for now, this was her refuge away from the clan momentarily. She wouldn't be gone long, just enough to try and think things through. The stench of the thunderpath was slightly overwhelming, but she would deal to have some time alone. If anyone found her right now, she would prefer it to be either Goldenblaze or Doveheart. But being alone had its better apeal currently. Everything seemed to be going wrong for her. Gladepaw seemed determined to take Goldenblaze, Doveheart seemed determinded to swarm her with duties to occupy her mind, and Goldenblaze himself fills her mind often with how he acts. Did he really love her back? He was willing to act as if not so they can maintain their ranks in the clan. Did that mean something? "And laughter is my soul's release But we're not smiling anymore And can't we try to win this peace? 'Cause we're never gonna win Never gonna win this war"

Toxicstep made her way through the greasy grass near the thunder-path, a rabbit buried a few fox-lengths behind her. Monsters zoomed past her, but the small she-cat barley flinched. She had grown up around thunder-paths and they didn't bother her much, not even their horrible stench. The black cat's ears swiveled toward the trees that surrounded the thunder-path, had that been a squirrel she had heard? She turned her purple gaze toward the sky, her keen eyes picking up almost every individual branch like only a true hunter's eyes could do. What the warrior spotted surprised her a bit, there happened to be a she-cat sitting in those branches looking quite distressed. Toxicstep considered just continuing with her hunt, some cats liked to be alone when they were having problems, but decided to go talk to Roseflight. It was better to talk about your problems than keep them all bottled up inside.
The small she-cat clawed her way up the tree to a branch right above Roseflight, the one she was sitting on would not support both of them despite Toxicstep's small size. She laid down, not bothering to keep quiet while she was getting comfortable so Roseflight would know she was here if she didn't already. There was silence for a moment and Toxicstep just stared at the thunder-path, her eyes unblinking. '' You're quite a climber for that paw of yours. '' She meowed in a calm tone to Roseflight. She didn't feel uncomfortable talking about the she-cats crippled paw, it was there and every cat had to deal with it. There was no point in not talking about and no point in feeling uncomfortable talking about.

To her slight surprise, a warrior starte clammoring up the tree she resided in, making it obvious. But Roseflight held her composer, almost like Doveheart. Sometimes it was just easier that way. When she heard Toxicstep's comment on her cripple, the medicine cat appentice let out a soft sigh. Although she disliked talking about it much, there were times when it was inevitable. Might as well get it out of the way. . . . It wasn't as if she wouldn't repeat her explination ever again. There was always someone who asked.
"I can still do some things. Before the accident, I practically lived in the trees." The she-cat glanced up at the small warrior, but other-wise kept her gaze outward, stairing at the thunderpath and the forest beyond.

Toxicstep held her composure just as well as the young she-cat below her. As she spoke her eyes stayed glued to the thunder-path, '' Did I ever question the fact that you can do things? '' She asked the medicine cat apprentice. Memories flooded the warrior's mind, memories of a young she-cat known as Rosepaw, training to be a warrior just like all the other apprentices. The warrior remembered carrying her apprentice's limp body back to camp, remembered Roseflight's wail of panic as she raced through the air toward the ground and her cry of agony as her paw made contact. If only I had told her not to climb so high... Toxicstep thought regretfully to herself. '' When I had an apprentice, I bragged to all the other warriors. I told them that my apprentice was like a bird, that they should have seen her fly through the trees. '' Toxicstep murmured softly to Roseflight.

Her shoulders slumped slightly at the menton of when she had still trained to be a warrior. It was that one false move that ended her carrier right then and there. The one fall that warped her life as they knew it. Not even StarClan had seen it coming, for they had admitted it once on her first trip to the Crystal Cave. She had let down Toxicstep the day of the accident. "I would gloat in the apprentice den before it was time to sleep. . . Speaking of how my mentor taught me all the best moves even though I hadn't been an apprentice all to long. Of how she wouldn't let me give only a small effort, that it had to be one hundred percent or nothing. My mentor would only let me be my best." Roseflight paused, remembering the intesne training sessions, but the look of pride on Toxicstep's face once she mastered a move or caught her first prey. She would know of which mentor she spoke of. Maybe that's why the medicine cat apprentice was more compatible to train under Doveheart's watch unlike so many. The Medicine Cat and the small warrior were alike, whether they knew it or not.

Toxicstep sighed, yes she did push her apprentice to do her best and nothing less. Was this why Roseflight was how she was? Did she push her former apprentice just to hard? '' I shouldn't have let you climbed that high Roseflight, I'm sorry. '' the small-she cat meowed quietly. '' But you are one of the best medicine cats I have ever had the honor of meeting, you are a great successor to Doveheart. Maybe there was a power higher than StarClan that chose this destiny for you? '' Or maybe I just screwed up... Toxicstep thought to herself in dismay, No. No self-pity. It doesn't matter who's fault it was, it's happened and that's what matters. The she-cat told herself sternly. '' I know StarClan didn't plan this for you, but you didn't give up like so many other cats would have. You made something good out of something bad, and I could never have been prouder of you, even if you had become a warrior. '' The she-cat felt a bit uncomfortable talking about StarClan because she didn't believe in the warrior ancestors, but if these starry cats comforted Roseflight then she would talk about them.

"It wasn't your fault Toxicstep. . . I ignored your warnings. But what's done is done, and there is no turning back," she paused, letting her own words sink in, feeling the truth they held. It was odd, to simply know what you just said was fact. The feeling shifted around her stomach a little before settling. "And even if it seems unethical, I'm proud of you too," Roseflight murmured. That was fact also. The apprentice was glad to see her mentor being able to move on, despite the loss of her apprentice. Time went on, and if they did not, those were the ones left behind. Just as leaf-bare doesn't wait for those unprepared.

Featherheart decided to take a stroll when she noticed the two she-cats. "Hey you two! Whats up?"

Toxicstep looked down at Roseflight, about to speak when a voice called to them from down below, ''Hey you two! What's up? '' Featherheart meowed to them. The black she-cat sighed, now was not the best time. But maybe it would be good to get off this depressing subject. '' Hi, Featherheart! What're you up to? '' she called down to her.

The medicine cat apprentice glanced over her shoulder, then went back to staring at the busy thunder-path silently. Her slight agitation was well concealed under her calico pelt. It seemed to be a trait that all medicine cats had to learn, a quality that marked them specifically. That and snapping back at times. That part was earned though, since they did put up with a lot. "Hi Featherheart."

"Well, I know Roseflight's already seen them but I was just going around telling everyone that Snowfur's kits were born not too long ago, and Snowfur could use some company.

Toxicstep blinked, '' So Snowfur's kits were finally born? I heard Doveheart saying that she would have four kits, thats a big litter. I may go see them later, Snowfur's probably tired at the moment. '' the she-cat meowed.

Roseflight nodded slightly. "The nursery will be crowded anyways. There was barely any room to breath during delivery, and it may be even more cramped now. Plus Coalstorm will be with her when he can." The tom seemed desperately in love, and attended to the queen's every need. The medicine cat just hoped he didn't spoil the kits to harshly. They would need to realize that there was a world outside of camp, and it wasn't as perfect.

Toxicstep watched Featherheart bound away into the forest, the warrior always seemed to be full of energy. She turned her head to Roseflight, '' How are the kits doing? '' she asked the medicine cat apprentice.
