Fawnspeckle took a small step into the Dark Cave. Light filtered in only a fox length, and everything else was pitch black. Fawnspeckle knew that when she was surrounded by the blackness her eyes would adjust, but it would still be hard to see. She took another step in and it echoed throughout the whole cave. She gulped but didn't let any fear show in her eyes or on her face. "Clayheart?" she yelled, and her voice quivered only a bit. "Are you coming?"

Clayheart followed behind Fawnspeckle timidly, his molted fur standing on end as the faint but eerie sounds of bats echoed off the cave walls to the two warriors. He stood beside the she-cat, '' Wow... it's so dark and so big... It's pretty obvious why they named it the Dark Cave. '' he meowed quietly, not even sure why he was keeping his voice down, '' Lets go. Someone said that there is a huge cavern at the very end. '' he said and then began leading the way into the darkness.

Fawnspeckle looked at Clayheart and smiled. "Wanna race? I bet I'll beat 'chu there!" A playful look appeared on her face before she picked up her pace and eventually began sprinting through the dark cave walls. Each footstep was echoing off the walls, and each a little louder than the previous one.

Clayheart rolled his eyes at the young she-cat but never the less dashed after her. He could barely see her frame etched against the darkness, but he could hear her paw steps loud and clear. '' That all you got? '' he challenedeg her and then sprinted even harder easily. Running was one of his specialties.

As Clayheart got closer behind her she sped up to as fast as she could, and then suddenly stumbled forward. "Ahhhhh!" she yelled as she thudded against the wall. "Owie!" she said rubbing her paw over her head.

Clayheart skidded to a halt as he heard Fawnspeckle cry out in pain. He quickly back tracked and found the she-cat slumped on the ground with her paw over her head, '' Are you ok? '' he asked her, surpressing a laugh, grateful it hadn't been him who had run into a wall.

"I'm fine." Fawnspeckle mewed as she stood up and shook herself. "I think I tripped over a rock...Oh well!" she shrugged. "But, I think I'm going to walk from now on." she smiled, a useless gesture in the dark, as she walked forward.

'' I think that's a good idea for a klutz like you, '' he teased the warrior lightly as he padded at her side. '' Fox dung! '' Clayheart suddenly yelled, '' Fox dung. Fox dung. Fox dung. '' an echo called back, loudly at first and then fading into the darkness. '' I'm sorry, I just really wanted to try that, '' he meowed with a laugh.

Fawnspeckle bumped lightly into him and walked on by. "Mouse-brain." she said jokingly. "So where is it we're going exactly?" Somewhere in the distance she could hear a light running of water and the slight flutter of wings. A chill ran down her spine and she shivered. Something didn't seem right to her.
