Rainkit slid through the camp entrance, unnoticed. Her heart was racing and she periodically turned her head to see if she was being followed. But, otherwise, she held her head high and stared in awe at the trees that towered abover her. Who knew they were so big!

Rainkit stopped when she arrived at a small, young tree. Her heart fluttered with excitement and anxiety. Maybe I could climb this! she thought. She made up her mind and dug her stubby little claws into the tree. She slowly dragged herself up the tree. The branches seemed still miles away. She finally found pawhold on the first branch. She pulled herself up and plopped down, huffing from effort. Adrennaline coursed through her veins. I did it! I really made it! the thought screammed in her head.

Cloudkit raced after her sister, sprinting out of the camp. She followed Rainkit's scent over to a tree and attempted to scrabble up after her, but being the youngest she was also the weakest so far. She couldn't pull herself up the steep tree trunk. She fell in a pathetic white lump of fur and stared up at her sister with her blue eyes full of determination. Taking a couple of paces back, she then ran at the tree and launched herself at the trunk. unsheathing her short claws to their fullest extent, she latched onto the rough bark. Ignoring the stiff breeze that ruffled her soft kitten-fur, she clambered up onto the branch beside Rainkit. Her tail curled up, and she was clearly proud with herself.

Rainkit watched her sister struggle up the tree. "Go, Cloudkit, Go!" she cheered for her sister. Finally, Cloudkit scrambled up the tree. "Great job sis!" Rainkit mewed, butting Clooudkit's shoulder affectionally. "I knew you would make it!"

Cloudkit purred, seeming even prouder after recieving her sister's praise. "Thanks, Rainkit!" she squeaked cheerfully. She glanced around, sniffing the air for the scent of prey. "Want to see if we can catch some birds?" she asked. "I think there's a robin just up there," she added, pointing with her tail to a branch a few tail-lengths up the tree.

Rainkit herself took a hearty sniff, catching the robin's scent. "Yeah, lets get it!" she meowed, bunching up her muscles. Her eyes grew wide and her heart was beating a mile a minute. "3...2...1...GO!" She sprang.

Cloudkit leaped after her sister, her tiny paws stretched out in front of her as she reached for the branch. Her claws just missed their destination, and with a terrified mewl Cloudkit began plummeting towards the earth. She reached out and managed to catch herself on another branch, but almost instantly lost her footing and ended up hanging on with only her two front paws. Her stomach lurched as she felt herself slipping. "Rainkit!" she squeaked, "Help me up!" Great, now we'll lose the robin! she thought in annoyance. If only she hadn't missed the branch!

Featherheart stood right above the two stumbling kits.
"Hello you two."

Rainkit jumped down a branch and grabbed her sister. "Be careful!" Rainkit scolded. She turned to couninue up the tree when Featherheart spoke. "hello, you two." she meowed. Her eyes grew wide. "Featherheart! I-we we were just umm.... heading back to camp! We- uh... had to make dirt and uh this mouse caught our attention!" she meowed.

Cloudkit scrambled up onto the branch with her sister's help, and then flinched when she heard her deputy's voice. "Oh... Featherheart... hello," she mewed nervously, her tail lashing and her whiskers quivering. She listened as her sister stammered through an excuse, keeping her head low and her blue eyes on the ground. She hoped that Featherheart wouldn't punish them too severely for sneaking out of camp.

"Well, you two would be delayed from becoming apprentices but with the lack of warriors, you already have a long enough time to wait." She said to the pair.
