Wolfstar made his way over to the nursery. He watched the queen shift in her moss nest as he entered the den. "Hello, Greenlily," he purred, "How are you doing? Can I get you anything? Do I need to send in Doveheart for anything?"

"I'm fine, thanks for asking," Greenlily mewed quietly, stretching her head up to lick his shoulder gratefully. "Though I'm afraid that Spucekit may be coming down with a cough. Could you ask Doveheart to bring him something for it? If it doesn't get tended to, it may spread to the others and that's the last thing we need."

Doveheart padded into the nursury. Her jaws were clamped around a leaf holding coltsfoot, a herb used to treat kitten cough, and a little honey to sooth his possible sore throat. She placed the bungle at her feet and walked over to the kit. The she-cat gave him a sniff before asking, "How long has Sprucekit been coughing?" She asked calmly. While waiting for an answer, the medicine cat nudged the herbs to the little fluffball. Nodding encouragement, she watched the young tom lick up the coltsfoot, whiskers twitching with amusement as he skrewed up his face with disgust.

"Only a short while," Greenlily purred, gently licking Sprucekit's ears. She was slightly worried to find that his head was a touch warm. "Does it feel like he's developing a fever to you?" she asked the medicine cat worriedly. She knew that kitten cough usually didn't cause too much trouble so long as it was caught early and treated well, but this was her first litter, and she was bound to be more easily concerned than a more experienced queen would be. She prayed to StarClan that she was just over-reacting.

Doveheart nodded when Greenlily said how long he had been coughing. When the queen spoke of her kit being warm, she bent forward and rested her nose on Sprucekit's head. The medicine cat said nothing as she padded out, and came back with feverfew. "It seems to be nothing, but i'll give him feverfew to be safe." She mewed gently. The she-cat knew that the mother was only that, a worried mother who wanted her kits to grow strong and healthy.

"Thank you, Doveheart," Greenlily meowed, relief evident in her voice. "I'll call for you if he gets any worse. Be sure to tell Wolfstar if you see him, he's bound to be worried."

Doveheart purred, touching her nose to Greenlily's. "Your just a worried queen." She mewed teasingly. Backing out of the nursury, the medicine cat decided to go and find Wolfstar now. The first-and most obvious-place to look was his den under Shining Rock, so thats were she headed off to.

Greenlily watched as Doveheart disappeared, then turned her attention back to her kits. She gently rasped her tongue over Sprucekit's ears, hoping to help cool off the worst of the fever until the herbs he'd eaten kicked in so that he could get some sleep. Gladekit and Pinekit were curled tightly against her belly, and Greenlily's eyes softened as she looked down at the three of them. The thought of anything happening to them panicked her, but of course, as Doveheart had said, she was just a worried queen. Shaking her head once and nudging Sprucekit closer to his sibling, Greenlily settled down to get some sleep.
