Stonepaw sat on the other side, staring into the river. His eyes darted around, watching the fish as the swam by. The tom waved his tail slightly in acknowledgment to the newcomer, Sunpaw.
Suddenly plunging his paw in, the apprentice flicked it up, bringing a fish out. He grinned ear-to-ear, looking at the flopping fish for a moment. But he hesitated, and the fish found its way back to the water.
"Mouse-dung!" he cursed, finally looking up at the company.

She looked over at him . "ya missed huh?" she said as she swam over to greet him.

He gave a small nod, growling quietly in frustration. It was bad enough to fail all together, but to do so in front of others, it was embarrassing. So to make up for the lost fish, Stonepaw scanned the water again, waiting.

She sat about 4 ft away from him then she saw it a huge shining silver fish. She flipped it up in the air and caught in it her mouth.

He glanced over, and saw her catch the fish.
"No need to show off," he muttered, before looking back at the river, trying to ready himself to attack again. Stonepaw's whiskers quivered with anticipation and slight annoyance.

Emberflash padded over to the two cats. "Trying to impress a she-cat, huh?" he purred in amusement. Stonepaw was a funny apprentice. He was glad Wolfstar had chosen him as his mentor.

He shook his head in frustration, glancing up at his mentor.
"No, I only want to catch a fish. Then Sunpaw had to come over and catch one as if to gloat when I had missed anoter!" he growled, his eyes focusing back on the river. When he saw a fish again, his paw snapped in, violently, flicking it out, just barely making it. Stonepaw quickly bit into it this time, harsher than necisary.
Spitting it to the side, he turned back to the river, watching the river again, his pelt still bristling slightly.
