Her Music

[Icegaze]

As usual the blind warrior was out by the river. Icey streached out of the bolder and rolled over on her other side for the sun to warm her side which she had been laying on. She sighed quitely and listened to the river as it ran over the pebbles and rocks. She listened as the water ran through the river grass, and she listened as fish jumped and splashed in the water. To her this was a beautiful sound, to her this was music. She sighed again as she hears someone behind her rustle the bushes. "Hello?" she called sniffing the air to figure out who is was.

"Hello." Wolfstar meowed, stepping out of the bracken. He had watched the she-cat roll around, blissfully unaware of the most important things around her. "How are you, Icegaze? Enjoying the sunlight?" he asked the warrior politely.

[Icegaze]

“Oh hello Wolfstar.” She said turning her head to him and bowing it slightly. “Yes, the sun feels so nice today. And the river sounds beautiful.” She purred. “How are you?” She turned her head back around so her ears could be trained on the river’s sounds again.

Wolfstar nodded. He was very intrigued by Icegaze, beings that she was blind. His deputy, Nightrose, had recently stepped down from deputy, in fact earlier that day. Wolfstar was having troubles with deputies, his only true one had been Batflight. Now he needed to choose another. "Icegaze, will you be Sunclan's deputy?" he asked quietly.

[Icegaze]

"O-of course... but why me? I mean I'm blind..." she said with slight shock in her voice. She stood up and truned to Wolfstar. She closed her sightless eyes and bowed her head slightly, again.

Wolfstar shook his head, understanding where she was coming from. "Being blind doesn't matter. You are the one in our clan who can truely see, we're the ones that are blind. Did you know there was once a blind Medicine cat that served this clan? Oh yes, Hawktalon. He served his clan and many leaders, coming up with new healing technices. The important thing to remember is that you aren't truely blind unless you cannot see, and Icegaze, you can see. May it not be will your eyes, but with your heart, spirit and soul." he meowed. She bowed a bit before him. "No bowing, Icegaze. There is no reason. Like you, I am just your average cat. In the real world, having power granted to me by Starclan means nothing to cats unused to clan customs."

[Icegaze]

"Haktalon seams to be once been a great Medicien Cat." she said thinking about what Wolfstar said. Slowly she ca to a cclusion. "Oh Wolfstar... I would be honered if you made me deputy."

Wolfstar smiled. "Well, I am glad that you have accepted. You will be a great leader and service Sunclan greatly. Your name will go down in history as 'Icestar, the greatest leader Sunclan has ever had' and no one will remember you for being blind. It's not what counts. It's the heart, not the eyes or the handicap. To me, you are just a normal cat, and that is all that matters." he meowed.

[Icegaze]

She smiled and a few tears gathered in her eyes but she blinked them away. "Oh... but Wolfstar, I don't know how to be a deputy..." she said, her head droping a little. She brought her head up and smiled again. "I guess I'll learn..."

"Well, when I was chosen, I thought Fernstar was out of her mind. And I had no clue what to do. But, you just do as all deputies do, it's really not hard. Organise patrols and tell cats what to do. But, if you need help, ask senior warriors, or even me. You have support, and it'll sure make your life a breeze." Wolfstar meowed, sitting down besides Icegaze and tilting his head towards the sky to let the breeze ruffle his chest fur.

"Thank you." she said, She held her fae up to the sun and smiled as the sun warmed her face and wend through her wiskers. "Oh... do you have a do a cermony?" she asked, she still wasn't used to cermonies performed with her in them.

Wolfstar opened his eyes. "Yes, yes we do. It will be preformed soon enough. Just before Moonhigh. But, don't be worried. It'll be great." he meowed incouragingly. "There's nothing to worry about." But, Wolfstar knew that that was not true. They had much to worry about, but that didn't matter. Let her have the glory, he thought with a smile.

"Ok." she said. Please let the Starcaln accept me as a worthy deputy... she thought to herself. She jumped back up on her rock and laid back down, she sighed and smiled.

Wolfstar watched the she-cat as she streched out on a rock. He sighed. She was beautiful, he had to admit. She would surely get a mate, she had all the traits that attracted toms. She was strong, attractive, kind, brave, and she sparkled with confidence. He felt bad for her, feeling alone in the world, but that was something that she had to solve on her own.

She sighed again and closed off her mind to her thoughts and listened to the river again. Her thoughts were swrirling all over the place so she couldn't concertrate on the "music".
