Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. Sleetmask sat by the entrance to the dark cave mesmerized by it. Ever since she was little she always want to go inside and explore. She remembered the elders telling her and the other kits stories to scare them into staying away from this part of the territory and would talk about a cave that held many wonders. "I wonder whats in there?" She thought to herself.

"You'll get more expearience if you actually go into the cave rather then gap at it." Came Doveheart's mew. Padding up on silent paws, she sat next to Sleetmask and looked into the cave mouth yawning before them. She had been inside, and had quickly found out where Batflight had gotten her name from. The medicine cat found her ears pricked forward in an attempt to catch any sound echoing out of the cave and into the open. She flicked her tail half-heartedly at it. "Its darker then the blackest nights, i'll tell you that much." She snorted.

Suddenly, an orange glow came from the back of the cave. The light began to move and come closer to the two she-cats, accompanied by the sound of light paw steps that echoed on the barren cave walls. As it got closer the light separated into two glowing eyes and the form of a small slender cat could be seen etched on the darkness. Batflight sat a few tail lengths into the cave in front of Doveheart and Sleetmask, half of her engulfed in shadows. '' Doveheart is right you know, Sleetmask. '' The she-cat meowed to the warrior who looked so tempted to enter the cave, '' If you do come in, just be quiet please. Some friends of mine are trying to sleep. ''

Doveheart rolled her eyes. "I wouldnt exactly call those friends Batflight." She mewed to the warrior. If it were up to her, she would trade her pelt and legs fro skin and wings! The medicine cat muttered to herself. As it was all to clear to see, the she-cat didnt approve of the black cats other 'loyalty', whether they saved her life or not. All they did was scare kits, catch bugs, and make the caves and surrounding lands reek worse then fox dung.

"I was only thinking of going in." Sleetmask muttered softly to Doveheart and Batflight. She looked over at the cave then back at them. "So how have you guys been?"

Batflight smiled at the medicine cat, Doveheart had never approved of the deputy's fondness of bats. '' You don't know them as I do, Doveheart. '' The she-cat meowed simply with a twitch of her tail tip. '' Come on Sleetmask, it's not that scary. It's all those stories in the nursery that put all these thoughts about evil bats and the dark scary cave in your mind, I'll show you what it's really like. '' she meowed with a friendly smile to the young she-cat, '' I know you aren't fond of bats, but you can come to Doveheart. '' She invited the medicine cat too.

"Ok. I'll come." Sleetmask meowed smiled to Batflight. She was really excited to be going into the cave and look around. Bats never really bothered her before so this was going to be fun.

Doveheart snorted at Batflight. "I'd rather pull ticks from an elders fur." She mewed. Now that was saying something. The medicine cat had not been approved by the Clan elders when she had been made apprentice. She didnt like they way they treated her, so now she had a grudge against any elder, but had enough sence to hide her feelings. Rising to her feet, she padded in the opposite direction. "Try not to stink up the whole forest when you come back!" She called with a flick of her tail.

Batflight's whiskers twitched in amusement, '' You aren't scared of a few flying rodents, are you Doveheart? '' she teased lightly, egging the medicine cat on purposefully. '' Well you go play with the doves with the kits, we are going to play with the bats. '' She mewed and then turned back into the darkness of the cave, '' C'mon Sleetmask. '' she called over her shoulder to the warrior.

Doveheart turned around, padding up to the warriors. "Those things are more like rats with wings. They should belong to a carrionplace." She mewed cooly. With that, she walked into the cave a couple of paces and stopped. Turning around, she stared at the others with her ice blue eyes. The medicine cat was willing to prove before all of StarClan that she wasnt afraid of some flying rat that belong to ShadowClan.

Sleetmask smiled and fallowed Batflight. "Do your friends have names, Batflight?" She meowed walking after her into the dark cave.

Batflight walked past Doveheart with a blank expression as she led the way into the cave, but once she was past her a sly grin crossed her face, I knew she would come.. she thought happily to herself. The medicine cat had always hated bats and now the deputy could prove to her that they weren't all bad. '' Do any of your friends have names? '' Sleetmask asked from behind her, '' Only the few that will come close to me, they really are gentle and timid creatures when they are here where they belong. '' she answered the warrior, '' We're almost to their cave... now we must be quiet or we will scare them. '' she warned the others, her voice lowering to a whisper that echoed eerily against the cave walls.

Doveheart padded on silently, following Batflight and Sleetmask. She acts as though they are her kits. The medicine cat growled in her mind. Obeying the warriors request, the she-cat felt silent both in breathing and walking. As her eyes became more useless, she followed the clear scent of Batflight and Sleetmask, who where a tail length ahead of her as she brought up the rear.

Sleetmask purred quietly to show she had heard what Batflight has said about her bat family. She smiled to herself. She was proud to be in the cave for the first time with a few of her clanmates.

Suddenly Batflight came to a halt in front of what looked like a solid rock wall in the almost complete darkness, but with her darkness-adapted-eyes the she-cat quickly found the smaller opening, '' Ok, this is their cave. They'll probably be awake now, but don't get scared and make any loud noises or sudden movements it'll only scare them. '' Batflight whispered to her companions and then made her way into the cave. Her pupils dilated as they adjusted to the new light of the bigger cave. This cave was much bigger than the opening and at the top of the cave there was a small opening that moon light was filtering in through. Around the three she-cats a few bats flew around, stretching their wings in preparation of their nightly hunt and countless winged creatures of all ages clung to the ceiling. '' Beautiful... isn't it? '' Batflight whispered as her bright amber eyes scanned the cave in awe.
