Lets Try and Fish

"Yeah thats it. Now, keep your shadow off the water, and when you see the fish not far up river, dive in you paws and-"
She dived her paws in and brought out yet another large salmon.

[Birdsong]

Birdsong positioned herself properly by the river, digging her hind paws into the soft ground to anker herself. She then watched the water, waiting for a fish to come by. As soon as she spotted one, flicked on paw out and scooped the fish into the air, stepping aside as it plummeted back to the shore. She finished its life with a quick bite and then turned to Featherheart. "How was that?"

"Perfect! Now only three cats in the clan know how to fish."
She paused as an idea popped up in her head.
"Now since I taught you two how to fish, I want you to each pass it on to two other cats, and ask them to do the same." She said to the two younger cats.

[Birdsong]

Birdsong shrugged. "If anyone asks me to teach them, sure, I guess. It will be a good thing to teach the apprentices. The sooner they learn, the more time they'll have to practice and eventually SunClan will be able to fish just as well as RiverClan." She then turned her attention back to the water and spotted a fish near the centre of the river. It was too far out for her to reach, but on a sudden urge she did something unexpected and rather stupid; she leapt into the water to try and catch it.

As Birdsong was swept down river, Featherheart jumped in after her.
"Gotcha!"
She pulled Birdsong back on shore and layed down, tired.
"Why'd you do that? It's just a fish!"

[Birdsong]

(lol, i know. very stupid of her *me*)

Birdsong almost had the fish when Featherheart suddenly leapt in after her and pulled her back onto the shore. "I almost had it!" Birdsong complained, ignoring Featherheart's chastening. After a moment, however, Birdsong realized that while she was able to battle the current by herself, with the extra weight from the fish she probably would've been pulled under. "Thanks Featherheart," she said sheepishly, looking down at her paws.

" You could have been drowned over a stupid fish! You're lucky I got in and saved you!"
She yelled, fuming.
"I think our lessons are done for today."
She said, stomping off.

[Birdsong]

Birdsong had pressed herself down against the ground when the older warrior had begun yowling at her, and by the time Featherheart had stormed off, Birdsong had flattened her ears against her bowed head, ashamed. Mouse-brain! she thought angrily. Jumping into the river? What is wrong with you?! She felt even more humiliated that Sprucepaw had been there to witness everything. She didn't lift her head to look at him, she didn't even try to move. She just crouched there, penitent and miserable as she waited for him to do or say something--anything--that would break the impossibly heavy silence that now surrounded them.

Featherheart came out of the camp and ran up to the pair.
"Wow! Who want's to go see Snpowfurs kit? They're so cute!"

[Spruceburn]

'' Actually, Clayheart can fish too. I've- '' Sprucepaw began, but gasped as Birdsong dove into the water, the current beginning to carry her away. The young tom was about to dive in after her, but Featherheart beat him to it. The tabby paced the edge of the river, his heart beating faster than a humming bird's wings, waiting for the warrior to bring Birdsong back. He let a low sigh of relief as the two warriors returned and started to make his way toward Birdsong but stopped in mid step when the two she-cats started fighting. It ended with Featherheart walking away fuming and Birdsong pressed against the ground, her eyes staring blankly at the dirt and her ears pressed flat against her head.

'' I think our lessons are done for today! '' Sprucepaw mocked Featherheart in a high pitched whiny voice once she was out of ear shot, his tongue was sticking out and he looked quite ridiculous. He walked over to the tawny she-cat and pressed his finally dry pelt against her damp one. '' I think that was awesome how you went after that fish, '' he told her, '' and how you caught that fish before that was brilliant too. '' The young tom nudged Birdsong with his shoulder, '' Featherheart can overreact, it wasn't your fault. I've been yelled at way worse than that, it's okay Birdsong. '' He tried to comfort the young warrior who lay beside him.

[Birdsong]

Sprucepaw's warm pelt pressed against hers comforted Birdsong, and his reassuring words made her feel better. She raised her head to lick the tom's cheek and offered him a weak smile of gratitude. "Thanks, Sprucepaw," she mewed quietly. Featherheart reappeared then and asked if they wanted to go and see Snowfur's kits. Birdsong was glad to see that the she-cat's hostility seemed to have dissipated, and she rose to her paws. "I think that maybe I should wait for my pelt to dry first. I wouldn't want one of the kits to get sick because I got them wet. I'll hunt for a bit and once my fur is dry I'll come back to see them. I'll even bring Snowfur whatever I catch." Birdsong started to leave, then paused and turned back to Sprucepaw. "Do you care to join me, or are you going to go and visit the kits now?"

"Hey wait up Birdsong!" She said as she ran up to her.
"Look I'm sorry for yelling it's just....I had a crush on your dad when I was little, and I didn't want anything to happen to his daughter." She paused with a look of sorrow in her eyes.
"Will you forgive me?"

[Birdsong]

(0.o huh? how did feather know eagleclaw? he was like, a rogue or somethin, outcast from his clan... meh, whatever)

Birdsong's green eyes flicked up to the other warrior in surprise. "I don't blame you for yelling at me," she meowed honestly. "I shouldn't have leapt into the water just for some stupid fish. The only reason I'm going to go hunting for a bit is because, like I said, I don't want to get one of the kits wet, and the running should help my pelt dry faster." The tawny she-cat smiled at Featherheart lightly before padding a little further into the undergrowth. "If you two want to go back to camp, that's fine," she mewed back over her shoulder. "I'll only be a little while. However, the invitation to join me is also open."

[Spruceburn]

Sprucepaw's ears burned furiously after Birdsong licked his cheek, '' Anytime... '' he mumbled his reply to the warrior then turned as Featherheart returned inviting them to come see Snowfur's kits with her. Oh wow, talk about mood swings. Sprucepaw thought to himself and then watched as Birdsong got up to go hunt, inviting him to come along. The apprentice didn't needed to be asked twice. He got to his paws and started to follow Birdsong, but Featherheart began to speak, talking about how she had had a crush on Birdsong's father and such. Sprucepaw had never met Birdsong's father but he thanked him for everything every time he saw Birdsong smile, but of course that was a secret only he knew. '' I'm coming with you Birdsong, '' he suddenly announced, not paying attention to the conversation the two she-cats were having.

[Birdsong]

Birdsong stopped when she heard Sprucepaw say that he was going to come with her. She smiled and dipped her head to acknowledge what he'd said, then waited for him to come over to her. "Anywhere in particular you want to hunt?" she asked Sprucepaw, the prospect of hunting with him brightening her mood considerably. She then remembered Featherheart was still there and blushed, embarrassed that she'd forgotten the other warrior's presence. "Oh, um... did you want to come, Featherheart?"
