[Ebonyfang]

Ebonyfang looked over at Cherryblossom, her face hard, her expression unreadable. Her mind was clear and she wasn't focused on anything in particular. When they reached the gorge, she sat down and began to groom her black fur. "So, how has your's and Jetstar's work been going?" she meowed between licks.

Cherryblossom blinked, clearly having been roused from her own thoughts. She was mildly surprised to find that she and Ebonyfang had reached the gorge already. She then registered that she'd been asked a question. "I'm sorry, to what work is it that you are referring?" she mewed, sitting down across from the other she-cat and pulling her tongue over the back of her paw and cleaning her ears.

"Oh, just duties in general. Are you to getting along ok?" she pressed on, looking at the she-cat while she continued to lick her pelt.

Cherry slowly lowered her paw and narrowed her eyes suspiciously at Ebonyfang. What was the other she-cat thinking? Her simple question seemed to carry more weight than she was letting on. "Why are you asking?" she hedged, not wanting to deliver a direct "yes" or "no" in case she got the warrior mad. Ebonyfang was clearly asking about more than just getting along. Perhaps she thought that Jetstar and Cherryblossom were an item?

Ebonyfang shrugged. "I don't know. I just want to know that the clan is being run by two cats that get along. How have you're duties been? Hard?" she meowed, partially changing the subject.

Cherryblossom straightened her back and looked at Ebonyfang calmly. "Jetstar and I get along quite well, yes. And our duties haven't been overly hard. There are multiple issues we still need to sort out, but most of them aren't overtly hard to come to conclusions about. But that was not what you meant when you first as, was it? What would it be that you really wanted to know?" She knew she was being pushy, but she liked honesty, and that was all she was asking of Ebonyfang.

Ebonyfang's fur bristled, but she forced it to lay flat. Cherryblossom wanted the straight out answer that she wasn't going to get. "Are you and Jetsatr getting along really good?" she meowed, returning to grooming her flank, with one eye still on Cherry, waiting for her reply.

Cherry narrowed her eyes again, and decided to find what nerve Ebony was playing off of. "Oh yes," she lied earnestly, "we get along better than you could ever imagine. I love being his deputy, if you catch my drift. The perks are unbelieveable." She winked, knowing as she did so that she'd just smeared Jetstar's reputation. Hopefully though, she'd be able to smooth this all over and it would be long forgotten before he ever caught wind of what she'd said.

Ebony stopped in midlick. "WHAT?!?" she screeched. She got to her feet immediately. She could here the sugar in the she-cat's meow. Maybe she was just lying, but if she was telling the truth, she would definately bring her hell. "You think you can steal my mate, brat? Well, you were wrong!!" she yowled, her eyes blazing.

Cherry smirked internally. So Ebony was in love with Jetstar, and she'd been worried about another female enroaching on her territory, so to speak. For a minute she contemplated egging Ebonyfang on, but then decided that since she'd gotten the truth she was looking for, she might as well let the other she-cat relax. "Tis all right, Ebonyfang. I was--" but Ebony cut her off with an infuriated yowl and the next thing Cherry knew the black warrior had her pinned down.

Ebony lunged at Cherryblossom, taking her by surprise. Though she was skinny, her broad shoulders kept the she-cat pinned to the ground. "How dare you play with something that isn't yours?!" she hissed icily in the she-cat's face. She sliced Cherry's nose. "You will regret it!" she growled, her voice rising.

Cherry hissed, squirming out from underneath the other she-cat. She shook her head furiously, spattering droplets of blood everywhere. "dang it, Ebonyfang!" she spat, "that stings!" She ran her tongue around her muzzle to wipe away the blood. "Look, Jetstar and I are--" Ebony attempted to claw her again, but she leapt nimbly out of the way. "You want to fight? Fine! Once you realize how foolish you're being perhaps you shall calm down and we can chat like two civilized she-cats! Until then--" and with that she sprung forward, landing squarly on Ebony's back and digging her claws into the other cat's fur.

Ebony shrieked as Cherry turned the fight around and jumped on top of her. But, Ebony didn't fall, and used her broad shoulders to her advantage. She saw a quick flash of surprise on Cherry's face and knew that she had caught her off guard. She quickly rolled over, crushing the deputy against the ground and she kicked her in her stomach, hard. "Don't fudge with me, brat" she hissed.

Cherryblossom lay there for a minute, dazed and winded. She sucked in a few deep, shuddering breaths before she was able to breathe normally again, and she rolled limply onto her stomach, pretending to forfeit. If Ebony attacked, she was ready, but if Ebony surrendered, she could explain the truth. She waited for the other she-cat to make her move.

Ebony raked a powerful paw across Cherry's back, making the deputy arch her spine. "You have 10 seconds to explain!" she snapped, anger rising quickly within her.
