Rosepaw was jittering with excitement as the half moon ever so slowly climbed the sky. It seemed to mock her, saying it was still awhile more. But soon enough, they would leave. For tongiht, she was taking a huge step in her training. The apprentice was going to the Crystal Caves. Finally! It would be her first time sharing tongues with StarClan, and maybe she could seek out some answers. This oppurtunity had endless possibilities. And now Doveheart seemed to be stalling.

"Keep your fur on!" Doveheart mewed, walking from the den. The half moon light still managed to make everything have a silver glow to it. Her ice blue eyes scanned over her bouncy apprentice. "Calm yourself or you'll be out of energy before we ever leave." She purred. Flicking the calico on her ear with her tail, the medicine cat padded to the camp entrance. She cast a glance over her shoulder, eyes full of amusement. Yet the she-cat wondered how Rosepaw would take the news of her becoming a warrior was never meant to be.

Rosepaw tried to contain her excitement, but had to let some flow so her anxiousness wouldn't show. She was honestly nervous about this, knowing that she may not like some of the answers she got. But she tried to prepare herself, so she wouldn't be disapointed. Although it may be hard to take in. Maybe she was destined to be a medicine cat, maybe not. But she couldn't get it through her mind why StarClan would cripple an apprentice just to make sure she was a medicine cat. The thought seemed so cruel and unreasonable. It wasn't possible was it? They could have just as easily walked into her dreams and given her a message if they had wanted her to work with herbs. She would have listened, right? If StarClan willed it, who was to object? Rosepaw sighed and started to walk out the camp entrance.

Doveheart waited for Rosepaw to catch up to her before picking up a gentle lope. They way the half moon struck the two cats made it seem like they were already half way to StarClan. Even though prey scent was all around them, the medicine cat ignored it with forced practice. The she-cats ice blue gaze flickered over to the calico. The expression on the young cats face was that of intense thought. Full of questions, only to find no answers. She thought with a mental sigh. The woodland suddenly opened up into a clearing, long grasses tickling the belly fur of the two traveling cats. Walking up to a flat patch of grass, the tonkinese stopped and sat down. "This is Crystal Cave." Doveheart mewed quietly.

Rosepaw staired in amazement. It was so beautiful! And Doveheart was able to come here every half moon? No wonder why she loved being a medicine cat. Well, other than healing and everything. This seemed like a fitting place for StarClan to linger if anywhere on this earth. So i only made sense that they should cantact them here. The apprentice foolowed closely beside her mentor, looking around curiously, as if she had just been newly apointed again, and was learning the territory. Everything was simply amazing.

Doveheart padded on, following the trail taken by so many before her. The path seemed to last for a moon longer before the medicine cat finally stopped. Everything was pitch black still, so the she-cat flicked her tail against Rosepaw's shoulder to signal for her to stop. Laying down and tucking her paws under her, the SunClan cat waited on the cold stone floor. You did not rush StarClan, they come to you when ready. Not a long wait left. She thought, giving her chest a quick lick before lifting her head to gaze out of a hole at the top where Silverpelt blazed.

As if in sync with her mentor, Rosepaw looked up too, gazing at the beautiful sky. She layed down beside her, wondering was was to happen next. Did they say something special? Or what? The she-cat wasn't entirely sure. But whatever would happen, she willed it to be soon. She wanted- no needed answers soon. She felt like she might burst if she did not. Absentmindedly, her paw throbbed slightly, but she paid no mind. It did that sometimes, finally hurting after walking for awhile or something that had strained it. The walk here had been longer than she thought it would have been, but she had perservered. If she hadn't she may have never gotten to see StarClan. Or get her answer.

Before anything else happened, Doveheart suddenly rose to her paws. Walking around in a half circle, she faced Rosepaw. "Rosepaw, is it your wish to enter into the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?" She mewed calmly. The familier words brought back her own memories of when she first came to Crystal Cave. She blinked once to get rid of the thoughts as she waited with patience for her apprentice's answer. This was basicly the last time any cat was allowed to turn back from the path of a medicine cat. As the she-cat watched the calico, she could see the desprate wish for answers. My poor Rosepaw, what will you think of StarClan when i tell you the path they had set for you the moment you where born? The tonkinese thought, blinking again when she noticed she said 'my.' The young she-cat wasn’t her kit, yet the blue eyed cat couldn’t help but wish the troubled, gentle, and smart cat was her own kin.

Rosepaw dipped her head. "I do." she murmured. There was no turning back now. As if there had ever been. Even if she did want to be a warrior, it would be impossible. The others would probably mock her about trying again, despite the wound. This was her only choice it seemed. But maybe that was a good thing.

Doveheart raised her head to Silverpelt above her. "Warriors of StarClan, i present to you this apprentice. She has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance will your will." As if in answer to the medicine cat's words, the half moon broke free, showering the cave with light. As the moonlight bounced off the water, it was reflected a million times over in the crystals on the walls and ceiling. Everything glowed pale purple and blue from the water and crystals. The she-cat dropped her gaze, ice blue eyes showing how proud she was for Rosepaw. "Take a drink from the pool." She murmured, sweeping her tail towards the water's edge.

Rosepaw nodded, her own eyes glistening. She was happy her mentor was proud. And excited to finally share tongues directly with StarClan. Before lapping at the water, the she-cat took one last look around the beautiful cave. Crouching down, Rosepaw finally lapped a little water, before laying down a whisker away. Almost instintainiously, she was asleep, and walking in an unfamiliar forest. StarClan's forest, she realized. She started to walk, as silently as possible. Her gaze flitted around, looking for any signs of life. There was a slight russling here and there, but no cat confronted her. Finally pushing into a clearing through some bushes, Rosepaw found a singular cat standing there. It wasn't any ancestor of her clan though. But she had heard stories about this brave she-cat. "Bluestar?"

Doveheart was in her own dream, but it remained within the walls of Crystal Caves. She sat next to Rosepaw, gazing down at the sleeping apprentice. Paw steps alerted her of an aproching cat, but she didnt look up. "Welcome Silverface." She mewed quietly to her former mentor, as he came to sit with her. The tom dipped his head, and the two medicine cats watched the calico. Unspoken words were passed between the two, until the she-cat broke the silence. "Why did StarClan make her crippled?" She asked, turning her gaze to meet his. Silverface gazed at her, eyes steady and betraying nothing. "StarClan did nothing to her. What happened was beyond our power." He mewed, voice a thousand voices in one. Doveheart stared at him, confused. Did that mean it was an accident, or that something bigger then StarClan themselves acted out? The thought made her shudder.

The old ThunderClan leader turned and smiled at the young apprentice, motioning for her to draw closer. Rosepaw started slowly, knowing her limp would slow her. But it felt fine. Confused, she looked down at her usually crippled limb, which looked like it had never been harmed. To test it out, she ran the remaining space between her and Bluestar. "Don't get used to it young one. It is only for your stay in StarClan, but once you return, it will be crippled again." Rosepaw looked down, slightly disapointed. But at least she had it for now. She was bursting out of her pelt to ask questions. "Why are you here instead of an ancestor? Where is Doveheart? Is she alright? Am i really going to be a medicine cat? Why am-" "Try asking questions slightly slower so I may answer." The past leader let out an amused purr. Rosepaw took a deep calming breath. "Why am I crippled? Was it really StarClam's will?" Bluestar's face remained calm, as if she expected the question. It must be obvious, to say the least. "It was beyond our power. But now your destiny is now that of a medicine cat's, and neither the will of StarClan or SunClan can change that. Although you would have made an exceptional warrior, your destiny seems much brighter now." The leader paused for a moment, looking at the disapointed apprentice before her. "You're lucky to have such a close bond with Doveheart"

Doveheart woke from her dream, stiff and sore. The sky showed that dawn was not far off. The medicine cat looked at Rosepaw and blinked. She was still dreaming, so the she-cat moved away some, stepping as silently as if she were stalking a mouse. Finding a comfortable spot, she proceded to groom herself.

The apprentice looked, confused, at the leader. Yes sh had a bond with Doveheart, but why was it worth mentioning? Didn't all menors and apprentices have this bond? "She cares foyo more than you think." Bluestar mewd calmy, her voice wise beyond seasons. The blue furre she-ct leaned downand gently touched noses with Rosepaw, who instantaniously awoke. She looked around for a moment, trying to orient herself. Her gaze found Doveheart, her mentor. . . And possibly somthin more. Te apprentice gt up and strtched, thinkin.g. 'Doveheart is lik a mom to me.' the fact dawned on her suddenly.
