Sagekit pounced out of the nursery looking for something to do. The grey she-cat scanned the area around the camp. She squeaked with happiness when she saw a pile of leaves by the camp entrance. She scampered over to them and jumped in. The leaves flew every where and some even blew out of camp. "Come back here!" Sagekit purred following them into the forest.

Roseflight had been taking a small break, sunning herself in the camp clearing. She let out a purr of amusment, seeing one of the new kits scamper out of the nursery. But in a blink of the eye, Sagekit was out of view.
"Sagekit?!" she got up suddenly, and walked as quickly as her body allowed. Once out of the entrance, she could see the small kit running around, trying to catch leaves.
"Sagekit!" she called out again.

The little she-cat instantly dropped the leaves she was playing with when she heard her name being called. Sagekit looked around and saw that the young Medicine Cat, Roseflight standing a few feet from where she was playing. Sagekit picked up her new favorite leaf she found and walked over to Rosefight with a big smile. "Hi, Roseflight." She purred putting her leaf down. She always had liked and cared for Roseflight more than only other cat in the camp.

She sighed, realizing the kit did not know what she had done wrong. The medicine cat would have to be gentle with Sagekit, or else that would be unfair. Roseflight ducked her head down slightly to be at a closer level with the kit.
"You shouldn't wonder out of camp Sagekit. You'll leave once you're an apprentice, but until then, you belong in camp. When you just leave like that, you worry everyone. So don't leave without without asking and having someone coming with you, alright?" She spoke kindly, looking at the small kit. The little she-cat reminded Roseflight of her kits days, so eager to leave camp, always playing around. So ready to be a warrior, wanting to skin the apprentice stage.
"Come. Let's get back before anyone realizes." she said, standing again. The Medicine Cat gently brushed the kit with her tail, leading her back to the camp entrance.

Sagekit nodded and got to her grey paws. "Will you play with me back in camp then?" Sagekit purred happily to Roseflight. She hoped Roseflight would say yes.

"Of coarse," she purred. "But I have to sort through some herbs while Doveheart is out soon, so maybe you can help after we play. Just because you'll be the best warrior in the clan doesn't mean you can't learn a few herbs." Roseflight lead the way into camp, making sure the kit followed close behind.

"I like herbs." Sagekit meowed honestly and proudly to Roseflight, then glanced down at her leaf. "Do you see my leaf?" She meowed walking close to Roseflight. "I choose it because its a special leaf to me. It came from a Rose flower."

The Medicine Cat apprentice smiled down at the kit kindly.
"That's wonderful." Roseflight said, and gently nussled the kit affectionatly. Sagekit meant a lot to her, and she felt like the kit's surget mother at times. Was that how Doveheart felt about her at times?
With not being able to have kits of her own, this was as close as she could dare get.
"Want me to get a mossball to bat around?"

"No, we can sort the herbs first. Then we can play with the mossball." Sagekit smiled brightly. "This is going to be so much fun learning herbs. Do you like herbs, Roseflight?" The grey she-cat asked.

She smiled. This kit would go far, she could feel it. The work before play ethic would prove her as a loyal warrior.
"Very well." Roseflight meowed, leading the way to the medicine cat den. "And I don't think I would be able to do my job if I didn't little one."
Honestly, Roseflight hadn't liked herbs much as a kit. But when being a medicine cat became her only choice, they had been interesting enough, and after moons, she actually became fond of them.

"Roseflight? It's Snowfur. I can tell the kits have developed more and Doveheart wanted me to ask you if you could try to see how many I have..."
She said to the Medicine cat apprentice.
"I can tell they're gonna be here soon."

Sagekit looked at Snowfur then looked back at Roseflight. "I'll wait in your den until your done." She meowed and scampered into the medicine cat den. Her eyes grew round as she saw all the herbs, this was her first time in the den. Normally, the medicine cats would come to the nursery with the herbs but this was so much better.
Sagekit found a pile of herbs mixed together. She had a feeling that they weren't supposed to be together like that so she separated them by size, smell, and looks. Soon she had many little piles of herbs for Roseflight.

Roseflight nodded, aknowledging Sagekit's decision.
"Alright Snowfur. Just lie down and I'll do my best, but you're the first queen I've counted for. So I may be slightly off." she added, seeing the kit's tail disapear into the medicine cat den.
Once the queen was ready, Roseflight gently felt her swollen stomach with a paw, barely prodding, feeling for the fragile unborn kits. After a few moments, she pulled back.
"3 or 4 if I'm not mistaken."

"Wow, you'd think there'd be more in there with how big I'm getting!"
She said as she got up with some help from Roseflight and wobbled her way out of the den then stopped to look back at her.
"How much longer until they come, any idea?"

Roseflight looked up at the queen, thinking for a moment.
"You don't have much longer, that's for sure." she smiled reasuring to Snowfur. But slightly deeper, the medicine cat aprentice was envious. The she-cat wanted to be able to have a mate, and to love him openly without fear. But she couldn't resign, and leaving th clan would be torture for them both. Roseflight wanted kits in a way, but being pinned up in the nursery seemedl like torture.
"Alright Sagekit, I'm back. Read to st-" The calico stopped short of her sentance, seeing how the kit was already arranging the herbs pretty well.
